J.L. Layne joined Underwood Law Offices, Inc. in July of 2008 after serving as a Paralegal for the City Attorney of the City of Huntington for approximately 5 years.

Mr. Layne graduated in 1984 from Huntington High School where he was nominated to the McDonald’s All-America Basketball team. J. L. attended West Virginia State College and played on the 1987 NAIA National Runner-up Basketball team.

He received an Associates Degree in 2001 in Legal Assisting from Marshall University. J. L. also served as an Assistant basketball coach at St. Joe Central Catholic High School from 2006 – 2008. He is the proud parent of two daughters, Morgan and Ava.
